Hard Work; Never Give Up; Make the Right Choices; Fix Your Own Errors; Treat People Kindly

Hard Work I Never Met a Successful Person Who Did Not Earn It!

I was at my favorite store, Costco, and noticed a young man I often see working there. He is a dedicated hard worker. The type of employee I have appreciated during my career. I stopped to have a quick conversation to let him know that his efforts are seen and appreciated by customers and management. I will mention this young man, Steven, to his manager next time I am in the store!

Hard work is the cornerstone of success. It’s easy to admire someone’s BIG/newsworthy achievement, but behind every success lies a journey paved with dedication and effort. Hard work entails pushing boundaries, venturing out of comfort zones, and persevering when progress feels slow.

Talent and intelligence will open doors, but hard work is what walks you through them and keeps you climbing!

Champions NEVER GIVE UP!

Embrace failure as an opportunity to learn rather than a reason to stop. Have the courage to adapt, regroup, and continue the pursuit of your goals.

Consider stories of innovators like Thomas Edison, who famously failed thousands of times before successfully inventing the light bulb, or Marie Curie, whose groundbreaking discoveries in chemistry and physics were forged through relentless trial and error. Their successes weren’t defined by avoiding failure—they were represented by refusing to give up in its presence. Ask Michael Jordan, who was cut from his high school basketball team.

Make The Right Choices

Warren Buffett, one of the wealthiest people in the world, says that deciding who you marry is the most important decision a man or woman makes. How many of you treated it as such?

Our big and small choices shape the trajectory of our lives. Success rarely results from a single decision; instead, it’s the cumulative impact of countless choices made over time.  Take your time and master critical thinking in choosing your life partner and every key decison.

It requires courage to make tough decisions, to say no when necessary, and to choose the path that aligns with your vision of success.

A life guided by the right choices is one of integrity, purpose, and alignment with your core principles.

 Fix Your Own Errors

I cannot count my mistakes, nor did I always own my mistakes. Successful individuals take accountability for their errors and correct them quickly. It’s about actively learning from them and taking decisive action to prevent them from snowballing.

The ability to own and fix your errors shows maturity and reliability. It signals you’re willing to take ownership of your actions and prioritize improvement over excuses. Fixing mistakes also fosters resilience, humility, and adaptability—invaluable qualities in every stage of life.

“Treat People The Way You Want to Be Treated”

Treating people kindly is essential for building meaningful relationships, cultivating teamwork, and fostering trust. Whether it’s extending gratitude to a mentor, encouraging a colleague facing challenges, or treating everyone with respect, kindness creates a ripple effect of positivity that strengthens communities.

On a personal level, it reinforces the idea that success is as much about lifting others as it is about climbing higher yourself.

Applying These Principles

Whether you’re charting a career in Artfical Intelligence, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, or any other field, these principles will serve as your foundation.

Success is within reach. It doesn’t demand perfection; it demands progress. It doesn’t demand shortcuts; it requires commitment. And most importantly, it doesn’t demand isolation; it thrives in community.

Challenge yourself to work hard, even when you are not motivated by the work. Embrace setbacks with resilience and determination. Make choices that align with your values and vision. Fix your errors with humility and courage. Treat people kindly, knowing that every act of kindness will be repaid abundantly.
